The morning will commence with a wine and pizza tasting for all attending Baby Boomers with Orlando Wines supplying the wine.
The "live"show will commence at 10am with an interview on stage with Lyn Gaston formerly Lyn Hook, who in 1966, was President of the Elvis Presley fan club. and who travelled, at her own expense, to the USA with the firm plan of meeting Elvis. Lyn will speak about her dedication and persistence, following Elvis through many states, until finally on the film set of "Clam Bake", met the man. Lyn has an amazing story to tell, as very few people have been permitted to meet Elvis. Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis's manager, ruled Elvis's life with a firm hand that included keeping people away from his talented star. Following this interview we will have a Q and A with Lyn where the audience will have the opportunity to ask Lyn questions about meeting Elvis and her fan club.
I will then be presenting a number of quiz shows on stage.
In this initial show, I will present a segment from an interview that I recorded in April this year with Helen Shapiro who had many hits in the Sixties. I had the pleasure of interviewing Helen here in Adelaide in 1964 when I was 5DN's lead Disc Jockey. Again Helen has a very interesting story with a number of surprises as she talks of her life in the world of pop.
All attending Baby Boomers will be asked to bring along some of their own memorabilia from the sixties and seventies and I'll be chatting to many of them on stage about their memories of this amazing time.
Baby Boomers/Senior Citizens please send this link to all of your face book friends.
I'm currently in discussions with the Adelaide City Council to preserve a number of these shows to be recorded and archived as part of Adelaide's history.
